Internationalisation and the Challenge of Preparing the Leadership Pipeline
10:00 | 21/07/2026

As enterprises expand into the world, competitive advantage lies not only in capital or technology, but also in their ability to prepare leaders for the global journey.

The Next Generation of Leaders – A Critical Link in Growth

According to a Deloitte survey of nearly 800 business leaders worldwide, 95% of respondents stated that the ability to mobilise and develop talent across borders, or cross-border talent agility, has become essential to business growth and will become even more important over the next five years.

This indicates that leadership development is emerging as a new competitive capability for enterprises in the process of globalisation.

Vietnam is no exception to this trend. After more than three decades of development, many private enterprises have transformed from domestic companies into multi-sector groups, gradually establishing a presence in international markets. Expanding the scale and scope of operations requires enterprises to prepare a generation of leaders capable of managing in multicultural and multinational environments.

ROX Group is among the enterprises proactively addressing this challenge. Following three decades of creation and expansion, the Group has chosen to develop its next generation of leaders through the Global Leaders programme, with the aim of building a leadership team capable of assuming strategic roles in international markets.

Global Leaders and a Long-Term Strategic Approach

According to information from the enterprise, Global Leaders represents the next step in ROX Group's strategy for developing its leadership succession pipeline. The programme builds upon the foundations established by leadership development initiatives such as Leading the Way and Leader Sharing, while offering a more specialised approach to talent planning, assessment and development aligned with target leadership positions.

This direction also reflects the people development strategy that ROX has pursued for many years. Rather than implementing standalone training programmes, the Group has established a comprehensive talent development system encompassing the enhancement of professional and digital capabilities, succession planning, career path development and corporate culture building.

An activity in ROX Group's series of leadership development programmes

The distinctive feature of Global Leaders lies in its approach based on specific succession positions. Rather than merely participating in a leadership training programme, each candidate follows a personalised development roadmap aligned with competency standards, practical experience requirements and their level of readiness for future target positions, particularly the role of Company Director in international markets.

Under this roadmap, candidates will be developed through components such as specialised training, developmental assignments, job rotations and practical experience in international markets, with support from mentors, coaches and the senior leadership team. This approach demonstrates that ROX Group is not merely identifying high-potential employees, but is building a structured succession system to prepare leaders capable of guiding the organisation throughout its global development journey.

Global Leaders aims to develop leadership capabilities through practical management challenges and real-world business projects.

At the strategic level, Global Leaders is expected to build a leadership force capable of operating organisations in international environments, translating the Group's development direction into tangible business results in each country and creating new growth value for the Group.

Alongside the development roadmap, ROX is also establishing a differentiated and outstanding policy framework to provide a solid foundation for leaders to confidently accompany the enterprise's global development strategy.

Tran Xuan Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ROX Group, stated, “After three decades of development, ROX Group aims not only to expand the scale of its operations, but also to build a system capable of achieving sustainable development across multiple generations of leaders. Internationalisation creates new requirements for management capabilities and adaptability. Global Leaders is being implemented as a long-term preparatory step to develop a leadership team capable of carrying forward the Group's development strategy, not only for today but also for the journeys ahead."

As an increasing number of Vietnamese enterprises look towards international markets, preparing the next generation of leaders is no longer solely a matter for the human resources department, but has become a core management capability. Programmes such as Global Leaders demonstrate how an enterprise prioritises people development as part of its long-term growth strategy, ensuring that its expansion journey is continued by generations of leaders with the capabilities, resilience and vision required to lead the organisation through its next stage of development.
