Investing in environmentally friendly technologies is identified by many businesses as an important direction for sustainable development, attracting capital sources and improving brand value.
Focus on “Green Technology
Green technology, or environmentally friendly technology, in addition to creating very low emissions and minimizing environmental impacts, also helps businesses save energy, reduce business costs, and improve product quality. Therefore, more and more businesses are interested in investing in green technology.
In addition to newly established companies like Vinfast and Dat Bike, which produce products using green energy sources, some other businesses concentrate on areas such as waste treatment and recycling, green transportation, and sustainable agriculture.
In the field of renewable energy, in recent years, Vietnam has emerged as one of the leading countries in the ASEAN in developing renewable energy. By the end of 2020, the total installed capacity of solar power in Vietnam had reached more than 16,500 MW. This field has the participation of a number of corporations such as ROX Group, Trung Nam Group, etc.
Experts assert that the adoption of green technology is essential for firms to progress sustainably, reflecting an unavoidable trend in global economies. Using ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards to guide business management and operations toward sustainable development makes them more competitive and makes it easier to get to green investment resources.
Numerous surveys indicate that a significant number of enterprises in Vietnam intend to adopt ESG commitments. According to PWC's 2024 research, 93% of publicly traded companies demonstrate a commitment to ESG, surpassing Vietnam's average of 80%. Fifty-eight percent of businesses are in the planning stages for the next 2–4 years. This indicates that green technology has garnered the interest of numerous enterprises.
Greening of Traditional Business Sector
Along with investing in green technology, many large enterprises and corporations also focus on greening traditional business areas by promoting the application of technology.
In the real estate sector, currently, 14 industrial parks under the ROX Group have completed smart industrial park architecture to help save energy, closely monitor waste treatment, and take advantage of green energy sources through cooperation in developing rooftop solar power.
The Group recognizes technology as essential for attaining sustainable transformation in industrial parks. To accomplish this objective, ROX Group has commissioned TNTech, a firm specializing in technical solutions, to customize the T.SIE (TNTech Smart Industrial Ecosystem) for the operations of the industrial parks under its management. This solution, operating on a centralized data management platform, integrates technology, infrastructure, and intelligent services to improve the quality and performance of industrial parks.
In 2024, ROX Group's greening efforts led to a series of awards, such as the Vietnam Investment Review's Industrial Real Estate Developer with Green Transformation Strategy award and the Green Growth certificate at the Strong Brand Award Ceremony. This is a recognition of ROX Group's positive contributions to the sustainable development and greening of industrial parks in Vietnam. TNTech's Smart Industrial Park solution was the recipient of the Sao Khue Award 2024.
ROX Group has innovated the convenient and beneficial hotel concept SOJO Hotels for the hospitality sector. The 13 operational SOJO hotels utilize body temperature sensor lights that automatically activate and deactivate during visitor check-in and check-out, contributing to a reduction of up to 30% in electricity consumption. PAU air conditioning technology systems also make it easier to reuse treated air and set up a strict waste classification process at the source, which helps SOJO Hotels create a truly sustainable green hotel model.
In addition to adopting energy-efficient and resource-conserving operational techniques, SOJO Hotels promotes a sustainable lifestyle among guests by embedding green into the core of its entire system. Guests can readily locate signs promoting water and electricity conservation within the rooms. SOJO Hotels curates cuisines that promote a healthy lifestyle, consistently engages in initiatives like Earth Hour, and facilitates the collection of spent batteries, among other programs.
The SOJO Hotels chain received Asia's Leading Green Hotel Brand award at the World Travel Awards 2024 and was recognized as one of the Top 10 National Green and Environmentally Friendly Hotels in the Building and Developing a National Green Economy program organized by the Vietnam Association of Information, Economic, and Trade Consulting—the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
In the field of renewable energy, ROX Energy implements solar power plant projects with a commitment to sustainable development, promoting green production. The Asian Power Awards organized by Asian Power recognized ROX Energy in two categories in 2024: Power Plant Upgrade of the Year and The Solar Power Project of the Year.
The green transformation is an unavoidable trajectory that presents several opportunities for organizations to swiftly capitalize on this trend, as it enhances operational efficiency and promotes sustainable development. An effective and methodical green development plan enhances firm competitiveness and enables the exploitation of prospects for significant advancement.
